Where to sow: Outdoors where they are to flower.
Preparation: Prepare the ground by raking until it is fine and crumbly, removing any large stones.
Sowing: Sow 20mm (3/4in) deep, in rows 30cm (12in) apart.
Growing: Thin out young plants to 23cm (9in) apart. Water regularly until plants are fully established. Growing nasturtiums is easy and once established they require little attention.
For earlier flowering: Sow in 7.5cm (3in) pots of free-draining compost. Place at 15-20c (77-68F) until germination. Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions before planting out after risk of frost. Before planting into containers, ensure plants are well rooted in their pots.
