Coniston Cut Plug 50g
Gawith Hoggarth's Coniston Cut Plug is a true 'Lakeland' tobacco in that it comes with the familiar and comforting aroma of floral spice. Mostly Burley tobacco, a high portion of that being dark fired, with a little Virginia, this blend is bold on nicotine and taste, with nutty and sweet earthy flavours coming through.
Not an aromatic per se, more of a slightly sweetened savoury and flavourful mix, much like an appetiser should be. It certainly is mouthwatering in the flavour department.
The dark colour of the cut plug hints at the fortitude of this flake-like textured, rich leaf. To be treated like a flake or broken flake, rubbing out is an enjoyable experience as the texture is slightly firm but soft enough to be workable.

Gawith Hoggarth's Ennerdale Flake is a popular blend of finest Virginias from Brazil, Zimbabwe and Malawi, with a dab of Malawian Burley. It is imbued with the comforting aromas of almond, citrus, vanilla with floral and spice, giving what is dubbed a "typical English Aroma". Indeed it's a pleasurable smoke that forwards each element of its flavour, allowing you to almost choose a single essence to enjoy or to relish them all as one.
The scent arising from the pack as you open it is sweet, spicy and fruity like a freshly baked fruit loaf, with a touch of almond. Being a mostly Virginia flake the colour is a darker brown than expected, with golden brown bands and almost-yellow speckles. It rubs out well, packs easily and burns thoroughly.
